Introduction to the New Standard Tuning and Fretboard Knowledge Weekend The Roundhouse, Colrain, MA, USAThursday 2nd to Sunday 5th of November, 2006Tony Geballe, Victor McSurely, Sandra Bain Cushman
Fretboard Knowledge Weekend: To prepare for this weekend we will be focusing on triad arpeggios in C Major in several positions and inversions. We will arrive having these arpeggios well in hand. The course will then use this vocabulary as the basis for continued work. Exercises to be practiced as prerequisites to the course, will be be made available in September. This course is open to anyone who has attended at least a Level 1 Guitar Craft seminar. Because there is preliminary work to address, it is suggested that you apply sooner, rather than later. Introduction to New Standard Tuning: This course will introduce the basic techniques commonly used in Guitar Craft, involving the functioning of the right and left hands, rhythmic sense, coordination and the direction of attention. Our work will be done on steel-string acoustic guitars, in the New Standard Tuning, using a pick. It is open to anyone, 18 years or older, who wishes to attend. Players of all levels are welcome to participate. This Course is appropriate for anyone who wishes to attend an Introduction to Guitar Craft in the future. The weekend will be directed by Tony Geballe and Victor McSurely. Tony Geballe has been a Guitar Craft Instructor since 1985. Victor McSurely has been involved in Guitar Craft since 1986 and facilitates the Guitar Circle New England. Sandra Bain Cushman, a certified Alexander Technique Instructor, will be present throughout the course and will teach the Alexander Technique as a means of developing attention and presence in the body. Sandra has been involved with Guitar Craft and Guitar Circles since 1988. The Seminar will be held in The Roundhouse, (Colrain, Massachusetts), approximately 80 miles east of Albany, NY and 100 miles west of Boston, MA. This is an absolutely lovely, charming place to spend a weekend.
