Alexander Technique: Sandra Bain Cushman Dates: Arrivals: Thursday, February 21st, early afternoon. Inaugural Meeting: Thursday, February 21st, evening. Final Meeting: Sunday, February 24. Departures: Sunday, February 24th - mid-day The theme of this course is "Excellence". It is open to people who have achieved a level of excellence in their professions or in their lives and who may not have had an opportunity to attend a Guitar Craft course. Which principles employed in achieving excellence can be applied to another practice?
The New Standard Tuning (NST) and several basic techniques employed in Guitar Craft will be presented, including the functioning of the right and left hands, rhythmic sense, coordination, and the direction of attention. Our work will be done on steel-string acoustic guitars, using a pick. Players of all levels are welcomed to participate. Instructors assisting Robert Fripp for the weekend are Tony Geballe and Curt Golden; Tony and Curt have been Guitar Craft Instructors since 1985. Sandra Bain Cushman, a certified Alexander Technique Instructor, will be present throughout the course and will teach the Alexander Technique as a means of developing attention and presence in the body. Sandra has been working with Guitar Craft since 1988. The Seminar will be held in a large private home adjacent to the Snowshoe Ski Resort in Snowshoe, West Virginia. The location is approximately 200 miles west of Washington, DC. This is an absolutely lovely setting for our work together. Top-shelf vegetarian cuisine will be provided by, Patrick Smith assisted by two experienced kitchen assistants. Due to the size of the facility, all sleeping accommodations will be double occupancy. At the present time, we are anticipating a group of twelve participants. Tuition: $1,000 (includes food and housing).
